Megan treated the school to an amazing ‘Show and Tell’ assembly last week though I’m not sure where ‘William’ or ‘Robin’ were. It was amazing to see how much this young lady has achieved in the short time she has been participating in the sport of… ‘Archery’. Hope the two names would have given you a clue.
Megan picked up her first bow when she was just 8 years old and has never really put it down. Megan shoots for Hinckley Archers and undertook a beginners course in February 2016. In September of that year she competed in her first ever Archery competition. This was followed by a very successful first outdoor season this year.
At only 9 years of age Megan gained her Junior Master Bowman award.
Megan has been training with the JEDIS (Junior Development Squad) since February and has represented her County on several occasions too.
Megan holds County Records and Regional Records in under 12 and under 14 categories.
She took part in her first ever indoor national championships on the 2nd December 2017 finishing 3rd overall in the u12 ladies recurve – what a way to celebrate her 10th birthday.
Megan also enjoys Judo which she has been doing since she was 7 years old and trains with SR Judo in Swannington. Megan recently competed in the Closed BJC Judo Nationals at Kettering on the 19th November, where she won a gold medal in her weight category and became National Champion.
She has become a double national medal winner in two disciplines within two weeks of each other. This is something Megan is very proud of. Though you would never know as Megan just takes it all in her stride.
